How We Met
A Bookshop in the Rain
October 2019. The rain was coming down sideways, the bookshop on Alder Street was warm and dry, and both James and Natali reached for the last copy of the same poetry collection. James — ever the gentleman, ever the opportunist — suggested coffee to settle the dispute.
That coffee turned into dinner, dinner turned into a sunrise walk, and somewhere between the second slice of pie and the third retelling of Natali's art-school disasters, they both quietly knew. Neither will admit who said “I love you” first. (It was James.)
